A fun place to visit. The Bull, which is the 1st level, has a great bar and great live music. The Whistle Bar, on the 2nd level, is pretty fun if you are up for playing pool and looking down on Duval Street. The Garden of Eden is on the third floor which is a crazy place to visit. Guaranteed a lot of laughs.

  • Justin R.

I love Debbie!! Every time I come to Key West my First stop is always The Bull to see Debbie!!!

    (5)
  • Rodge B.

Check out the third floor (aka The Garden of Eden). That's all I'm going to say. LOL

    (4)
  • Darren A.

Didnt really like but was OK. Only went there because of the drinks voucher for the margarita which was pre mixed in a draught tap! (not great and was small). Quiet place. Could be soo much more! Shame. Not missing much if you miss this one.

  • Jenn O.

Loved this bar (The Bull)! Saw the singer Dawn Wilder both nights! Great music, drinks, and atmosphere. Will go back!!

    (5)
  • Ron M.

Stay away from this nasty place where the drug head bouncers attack patrons, disrespect patrons and steal. The bouncer crackhead with the cane is the worst and should and will be in jail.

  • Allan S.

Yes it's a dive. Yes, they play rock & roll on the ground floor. Yes there is a dance floor. Service was prompt & polite. Two thumbs up. We also went upstairs to check out the Garden of Eden patio bar on the third floor. It was 9pm-ish on a Saturday night and the place was packed with mostly people in their 20s. Yes there were a few naked people (in their 50s) and a few topless women (20s -30s). The DJ was pounding out dance music. It was hot, it was humid, and it was fun .... we enjoyed looking out over Duval Street Overall a memorable experience.

    (4)
  • Gina P.

A definite dive. The female bartender on the 1st floor is a terror and Is not worthy of any of your money as she is super rude. Skip that floor altogether and go to the second floor and the only cool thing about the second floor is the people watching. Rooftop is great for shock value as it's clothing optional.

This place has not changed a bit in all the time I have been coming to Key West. A typical Duvall street bar, some light live music is played for entertainment. On our last visit it was a duo. While not of the highest caliber as musicians, they did seem to know every requested song and kept some of the crowd dancing. I am always ready to go after one drink here.

    (3)
  • Sean W.

Sure it takes a little while to get accustomed to actually being there and seeing some many people lightly clothed or not at all, and sure there's a little shock at realizing that most of us are not supermodels, but dancing outside on a humid key west summer evening is something that you shouldn't miss. Bring a friend, have a dark and stormy or two, relax and enjoy the crowd.

    (4)
  • Marc C.

Typical Duval street bar. Decent beer selection, live entertainment and good people watching. Yankee Jack was a lot of fun...

    (3)
  • Kari W.

We stopped a few times during our 4 days staying on Duval. Loved the margaritas and bartender was insightful with tips for our next trip. Loved the live music before noon!

After a SPECTACULAR show that was Garden of Eden, I came downstairs to Bull & Whistle and find a corner to collect my thoughts, and put into perspective WHAT THE F I just saw! and also the live music that night was from a country band, and it helped. At this point, I'm not even sure I can be giving out fair rating to some of these bars. it's not because they aren't great, because they all have big and happy crowd. But after an extra extended weekend in Key West (Fri-Mon) I was starting to think everyone of these bars and pubs are just one and the same; same kind of crowd, same kind of offering, and the only thing different was in the names. It's not bad. it's really not bad. The margaritas special was a deal, if only it wasn't that watered down.

    (3)
  • Benjamin B.

This place is great because of the view and the sea breeze. I visited Key West many times before I knew about the second floor of the bar, and I can say that I will return. The bartender was friendly, and the drinks were not overpriced.

    (4)
  • Mike D.

The Bull(1st level) is a awesome bar with great live music. Nice set up with great drink specials. The 2nd level I like even better with the wrap around deck over looking Duval St. We spent most of our time out on the deck drinking. The thing or level that ruined my rating was the 3rd level. We went up there and it was full of a bunch of fat naked people. I understand that some people are into that thing but if you expect to see any attractive naked people think again. The only people that are going to be getting naked are the people who are "free spirited" who clearly don't care about what they look like. O Did I mention old naked people as well. We immediately walked out and continued down Duval St. Will go back but Never again to the 3rd level!

    (3)
  • Charles G.

Drinks and great live music. What's not to love?

    (4)
  • Robin T.

My favorite watering hole in Key West. I've been coming back here for the last 25 years...

    (5)
  • Rose W.

Got a 2 for 1 margarita card so we though we might as well stop in. It took the bartender quite a while to realize we were there, and we were even sitting at the rail . $7.50 for two small margaritas that were pre mixed. We went up to the second floor and enjoyed sitting on the patio people watching. The second floor was nice, they had pool tables and a dart board. DO NOT go up to the third floor...You've been warned.

    (3)
  • Kevin B.

Three story building with a bar on each floor. They are always handing out 2 for 1 coupons that they really honor without a catch. Yes, stop and have a drink on each floor and enjoy the view, the music and the people watching

    (4)
  • Christine V.

I have a great memory of this bar. Sitting upstairs on their outdoor stools watching over Duval Street and having a couple of cocktails from plastic cups. We had a couple hours to kill and had the best time enjoying each other and people watching. The bartender and the bouncer were so friendly and gladly answered any questions we had. We were never here at night and truth be told I am not sure that I would want to be. But during the day, it has a great lively atmosphere, right in the heart of the action. What I find so great about Key West is that most of the people I have met who live there.. were not from there. They all came on vacation for one reason or another and ended up staying. They are living my dream!

    (5)
  • Carmen C.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Just one of those stops you make along the way...

    (3)
  • Terry M.

Wow, what a dive!! Classic Keys bar with sailor murals, a dance floor and wide open windows to the street!! The live band was a hoot - three older dudes that were definitely rocking out in the 60's! The bartendress was wildly energetic, moving around the bar at light speed and constantly ringing the bell - and definitely friendly (even if she did have a little trouble counting change for a hundred!!) Don't forget to find the guy out front with the coupons for $7.50 two for one margaritas. Classic margarita straight from the tap but incredibly enjoyable! All-in-all, we had a great time and would definitely stop in again!!

    (4)
  • Carla L.

Every time we passed a guy handing out coupons for this bar I couldn't help taking them, sweet smile and great attitude get you everywhere my friends. Of course we headed out to have a beer and decided to take advantage. Fun music, lots of happy customers, good service. Prices expected of a place like this in Key West. I really liked the ambiance.

    (4)
  • Kiersten F.

LARRY is awful. Look. I live here. Fantasy fest is insane. I get it. I understand that you have rules. But this is key west. If you can't hang with the deals the other bars give locals then don't try. He (Larry ) was not only rude but unprofessional. I hope management reconsiders what it takes to please the local crowd.

    (1)
  • Mike S.

Extremely helpful and kind staff, great 2 for 1 specials as well as Happy Hor specials. Crazy Bloody Marie's and Margaritas... Good place to people watch.

    (5)
  • Brock H.

The worst music in Key West. We went upstairs to sit on the balcony but left shortly after we arrived because it was hard to sit through the music. I gave it 2 stars because it has a balcony that is good for people watching. Overall the decor is really bad and I think I've already stated my case for the music.

    (2)
  • Karen T.

We came to the second floor twice during our trip. They have a narrow balcony that overlooks Duval. It's quiet and breezy and has great people watching. The bartender was very sweet.

    (4)
  • Jonah K.

Not the best service, the band was decent for a Sunday night. Overall it wasn't my favorite spot in town, but not bad either.

    (2)
  • Libby W.

Another historic local watering hole. Another stop on our Duval crawl list. We quite liked it. It seemed to have something for everyone in our group. We were already several drinks deep when we came here but the service was great. The bartender was on point and she remembered everyones taste in alcohol and was able to make a suggestion to one of the girls on our group. What I really enjoyed were the murals on the wall. They really sang to me, and I don't think it was just the alcohol in me, this place stays true to itself and its roots. They should be proud of that.

    (4)
  • Patty W.

Of course, we took advantage of the coupons they give out here. 2-4-1 margaritas. There wasn't a band playing, but I was tipsy and I almost fell asleep at the bar since we had a long day sightseeing and drinking prior to coming here. It's crazy that it consists of three stories. The first floor is Bull, second is Whistle, and the third is the Garden of Eden. Don't be surprised if you see people coming down from the third floor naked since it's a clothing optional bar.

    (3)
  • Bodo W.

7th (or 8th) aniversary (don't remember exactly ...). Same bartender, same afternoon entertainment. Perfect afternoon dive bar (never been there at night, so can't tell). Wish I would still smoke. Reliefed to find a sign of stability :-)

    (4)
  • Sean B.

Usually a solid stop on a bar hop, and usually have karaoke

    (4)
  • pracheta t.

Great music, super nice staff and decently priced drinks. My partner and I tore up the dance floor (even though it was only the two of us on it for a while since it was early). And yes, lots of naked people but it actually isn't weird - it's like totally normal.

    (4)
  • Christina V.

Everytime we are in the Keys we stop in here. There is always ambiance in here... people hanging out laughing and music blaring. On the first floor there is a band playing and its pretty much a regular bar. The second floor is like a game room.. pool tables, darts, Foosball tables.. etc. I've come here many a nights and played drunken Foosball with my friends... Third floor is the clothing optional bar. Seriously every time we come we always go up to the third floor to take a look. Warning: Its always the people who should opt to keep their clothes on that you see there 'hanging out' all over the place. It's all in good fun I suppose.. I have always enjoyed popping in for a drink or two and hitting the Foosball tables!

    (4)
  • Amy S.

My fiancé and I had a great time at the Whistle Bar, the one upstairs. First off, and, really, I don't think I should have to go further: There is a dog named Max who takes your tip off the bar and gives it to the bartender. You put it on the bar, and his little snout (although, to be sure, he's a very big black lab) nom-noms at the edge and he takes your tip away. It's delightful. Furthermore, you can sit on a balcony upstairs and people watch. The bartender is nice, the drinks are strong and inexpensive. I recommend having a few drinks and then going to see the Cat Man in Mallory Square.

    (5)
  • Megan K.

Great live music downstairs and usually open pool tables on the second floor. Great atmosphere, and of course you must run up to the Garden of Eden, packed with dressed people and a few brave souls in their birthday suits :)

    (4)
  • Teresa K.

In their defense when we went in there it was late Sunday night and the band was pretty much done for the night. The service was meh and we stayed for only one drink because the place was dead. Way better places in Key West to check out.

It's gonna be hard to give ratings to these bars here. Number 1: The biggest problem I see is simple. I'm from Michigan and in Michigan people REALLY love their beer. LOVE IT! I don't mean love it in a, "Wooohoooo!! Gimmee another one uh them bud lights!! King a BEERS!" Kind of way. I mean they Really love their QUALITY beers. Micro Brews, craft brews and BELL'S abound! Ah... Bell's... I will miss you. So I have to say that the selection in Key West is VERY lacking. Yes you can get your basics. You can get the Guiness and Bass and Stella and all that, but then that's like the LIMIT! That's IT. I might be able to find a Sierra Nevada!! YEAAAAAASSAAHHH!!! I mean. Sierra Nevada is OK. But it's kind of a pain in the ass to find a bar with a good selection overall. I'm ranting. This has nothing to do with, but ALOT to do with this bar. It's a cool place. I give it points for letting my dog in with me and having a second story balcony. That's cool, but other than that... Nothing special. Maybe down the road I'll change my mind. So there is a Savior, sort of, on this island. That's Key West Sunset Ale. It's OK. Drinkable. I will enjoy it. But check it out.... I have NEVER been the guy to only drink 1 type of beer. I never really want to become that guy, but on this island, with it's lack of beer selection... I'm scared. Anyway, check out this place. It's cool. They have bands, a second story balcony and a dog that grabs your tips off the counter. Seriously. There's a black lab that takes your tip off the counter.. That's kinda cool... I guess I'm just searching for something a Kick above the rest... I'm going to go back a couple times and give this place a review again... For now this is IT.

    (3)
  • Bob P.

Fun place!! Has a clothing optional bar on the roof. We had to check it out....so climbed one more set of stairs. Everybody was clothed but it was still good for a laugh!!

    (5)
  • Tim A.

I should have wrote this when i was in the Key's in late Feb. I want to tell you all this place was the funnest place on Duval. It has real local flavor and some of the best bartenders one could ever want. The entertainment like "Mad Jack" was a hoot I could have spent 2 weeks just sitting and watching the people and smelling the ocean air. It was a pleasure to sip an adult beverage, smoke a cigar and watch the sunset..... I am going back as quick as I can.

    (5)
  • Peg S.

Surreal sitting in a sparsely populated dimly lit bar (with historical and strange motifs on the walls-is that Dick Cheney's face on that pole?) made up of the geriatric set humming along to the karaoke-esque & cheesy touristy lounge/cruise ship singer in the red dress bravely belting out "Bennie and the Jets" . . . Ah, such are my memories of the Bull and Whistle.

    (3)
  • Ali C.

beware of the garden of Eden. clothing optional ?!?! more like 70 year old men shaking their junk to pitbull.

    (4)
  • Nydia M.

The Bull & Whistle Bar is just another bar on Duval Street. The only thing that sets it apart from the dozens of other bars is that there is a nice view of Duval from the second floor balcony area.

    (3)
  • Pamela M.

It's been really hard for me to find great small local bar where I've been staying in South Florida and I'm so glad that we stopped in at this one during our recent trip to Key West. Our bartender was amazing!! Couldn't ask for a better conversationalist, and man, this girl could work the bar...not like those "hot little things" in South Beach who can barely take care of two tables, this girl was the only one working there and easily handled more than 30 patrons (a small crowd for them to be sure, she could have handled more) the night we were there. She gave great tips for things to do and places to stay in Key West, and her rec's were all well worth it. Live music, dancing and sing-alongs all night long. The lady entertaining everyone was a hoot! Took requests, chatted up the room and could dance with the best of them. Met a couple on vacation from Winnipeg, it was nice to have fellow Canadians in the room to dance with. We actually never made it up to the Whistle bar since we were having so much fun at the Bull, but next time I come, I'll have to venture on upstairs to check it out....come here and give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

    (5)
  • Todd O.

This place is in a great location on Duval so its a good place to stop in and have a couple. There is live music which is surprisingly pretty good. Drinks are good and staff is friendly. 2nd floor is the place to be with a great view of Duval. Again 3rd floor is the Garden of Eden where for some reason every ugly, fat, or wrinkly mess feels the need to get naked. Go for the circus but not a place to stay.

    (3)
  • J B.

A friend of mine is heading to Key West soon for vacation and asked me where I suggest he go, It occured to me that I have yet to yelp my favorite KW haunts... this being one of them. Come here for the music and the drink specials. Been more than a few times and love this place. They have good local entertainment, a nice relaxed atmosphere, open air bar, and good drink specials. You won't find any sam on tap, it's not that type of place, but the atmosphere makes it worth it to drink lesser quality beers. We usually get the rolling rock special (they give you a $1 off coupon at the door and let you keep the jumbo plastic cups they come in) or occasionally the 2 for 1 Margareta special. If you come from 1-5 any day except Wednesday, they have our favorite performer: Yankee Jack- a now local but former Bostonian playing on the stage. Check him out.

    (4)
  • Victoria H.

This bar is so much fun! Live music with a singer that new every song you could ever want to sing along with and STRONG margaritas! The whistle (upstairs) was pretty quiet, but the bull (downstairs) was a blast.

    (4)
  • Shay M.

absolutely horrible!!! they tried to serve us margaritas on tap.

    (1)
  • Stephen F.

My fiance and I love this bar. The only other place in Key West in which we spend more time is our hotel room. The staff here is freakin' amazing. They are the coolest people you will ever meet. Props to Debbie, Jess, and Len(?). These wonderful ladies made our time there so much fun. We were treated like members of their family. The atmosphere is relaxed and free of all pretense. What you see is what you get, which is the way we like it.

    (5)
  • Skip I.

Upstairs at the whistle, is a great place to play darts and people watch from the balcony over Duvall. Don't go upstairs to the roof if you don't like to see people naked who should never be seen naked though.

    (4)
  • Marc S.

Love this bar, great people and they can really pour... this place is a must for your key west visit all three levels all three bars are a must.....Jeri is the bomb

    (5)
  • John V.

This place is freakin' crazy! Awesome drink specials and live music on the 1st floor, the 2nd floor (The Whistle) is great for people watching on Duval street and the third floor (the Garden of Eden) is ridiculous - Everyone gets naked up there! Also, a Medevil Madness game as well? They have great taste in pinball! Make sure you check out the breathalizer on the first floor near the bathroom. Always fun to see just how drunk you are...

    (5)
  • Tyler C.

Good spot to hang out. Multiple floors with very different vibe on each one. Roof had some very strange and at times scary scenery.

    (4)
  • Larry B.

ok for people watching on the second floor. It overlooks Duval st. There is a clothing optional bar on the third floor, but judging what went up there its nothing you would WANT to see LOL. Scary sights for Fantasy Fest. A decent bar with a 2-1 happy hour.

    (3)
  • christine o.

Stay away from the 2-for-1 margaritas that come out of a tap. totally weak. warm-ish beer but the girl that was singing was very good and entertaining. we tipped her $5 and she recognized us when we were walking by on the street the next day and gave us a shout out. We went up the the garden of eden which is for sure not my bag, but my husband likes to "hang out" and i appease him this. it is not my favorite place and the vibe can be unpredictable, totally. One time we were up there and nobody was naked and the dj was like "whats up people this is clothing optional!" another time there was a few couples flopping around on the dance floor, i have been up there when you can tell the pervs are lurking though. If you are curious, go check it out, it won't be necessarily icky...but maybe.

    (3)
  • Mike M.

In the Whistle Bar you can find two if the coolest bartenders on the planet! Cindy and Jessie can be found here in most days. Sure the bar is worn down and smells funny after it rains but it's Not everyday you have a 100 lbs of American Bull Dog take the tips off the bar and hand it to Jessica. Great balcony to people watch. Tons of drink specials.

    (5)
  • D h.

I can't speak much for the bar itself, great locations, but there wasn't anything special about the place the few times I visited. The primary reason for my high rating was that there was an Elvis impersonator there on one of the nights. He was great & kept everyone is a great mood. The drinks were reasonably priced & stronger than what you would get most other places in Key West. Will definitely have another drink at the Bull & Whistle, unless a Buffet-like acoustic singer is there like so many other Key West bars.

    (4)
  • Garret S.

While on a cruise to Key West, I created pub crawl to experience the best bars in Key West. This was the last stop on the pub crawl, and we only had time for shots of Jameson and something else that I can't remember. The bartender and patrons were warm and friendly, and made us feel at home. I definitely recommend visiting this bar on your visit, and don't let the clothing optional scare you.

    (5)
  • Annabell L.

Avoid the Bull!!!! Disgusting cocktails - the margarita is the worst I ever had. Bartender was super impolite, she should not work with direct customer contact at all. Go UPSTAIRS to the Whistle Bar, more expensive but a lot better...

    (1)
  • Paul G.

My wife twisted her knee while playing darts. It was a previous injury that she aggravated. I was helping her down the stairs when a bouncer came up to me and criticized how I was helping her and said he would "carry her out." He was sweaty (there's no AC in this bar) and sleeveless. He was overbearing and basically bullying us, saying that her coming to his bar with a previous injury presented a liability to them and that he "had to carry her out." When we refused again he started yelling at us and told us to never come back. This staff members behavior was ridiculous, we were completely sober, and were already just trying to get her home without further injury. I will tell all of my friends to avoid this bar. We won't be back.

    (1)
  • Terry H.

Pretty good place to sit upstairs and watch what's happening on the street. They had a great band playing and we had lots of fun.

    (3)
  • Christian M.

I do not usually leave bad reviews but yesterday we had a bad experience with the bartender Lorraine, we had two margaritas which certainly very rich, we asked for the bill and we paid After that the bartender lorraine ignored us completely, she was very prepotent and arrogan with my wife for not giving tip, my intention is always to tip for service but when you are forced to leave a tip for something that was not a good service that horrible we thank to the other bartender marcy for The attentions We never come Back to that place

    (1)
  • Katy S.

Nothing special... a fine bar in Key West. We stopped in and had a beer. Very chill atmosphere. Not a lot happenin'. I would come back for a break from some of the Duval craziness.

    (3)
  • Tyler L.

Never bring a large party to bar, they will actually try to deter you from ordering drinks. Worst service in Key West!!!

    (1)
  • Zalia B.

Bartender from philly was super friendly and fixed my up a new drink with my cider that was super buzz able and yummy......Adrienne Z was singing beautifully which is what drew us in

    (4)
  • Steve C.

Ducked in with 4 women this visit as it was the closest in this direction to our B-n-B once we kicked off on foot. I've been before. Three levels. Clothing optional on top on the Sundeck. Cool and historic pictures inside. My favorite level is the second story. But beware crazy Russian Broads who attack when you least expect it. Live music most of the time on the first floor. Cabeza OUT!

    (4)
  • Michelle S.

"The Liver is Evil It Must Be Punished" Interesting Duval dive bar. Good for one drink before moving on.

    (5)
  • Kimberly W.

Good location is about the only thing good about this place. The two for one margaritas were some of the worse ones I have ever had. The live music was not as good as a bad karaoke night. It needs a major updating and remodeling.

    (1)
  • Ryan S.

Good atmosphere, late 20s-early 50s crowd. Two ladies from Garden of Eden upstairs wandered downstairs and remained topless, but most people didn't pay any attention to it as if it was normal.

    (3)
  • Andrew G.

Huge spot with some really cool space and paintings on the wall. They have a live guitar player/song writer (in our case, it was a bigger guy who hits on people's wives and girlfriends), but it was funny nontheless. We just swung in for a beer while experiencing old town Key West, but the prices weren't bad at all. *If you're visiting like we were, go to the town's Visitors Center and grab a coupon book. They have coupons for buy one, get one Margarita free at Bull and Whistle. Helped with the bill... 2 beers, a margarita, and a coke ran us about $17. Not too SHABBY. But it's not too service-friendly, and not really too good of ANYTHING. Standard vibe, just a local watering hole that HAPPENED to be closest for us to hydrate...

    (3)
  • Eddie C.

The Bull & Whistle is a fun 2 story joint with an out of view outdoor 2d floor where adventuresome and not so shy folks can take it all off if they want to. There are signs as you hit the rooftop that warns that you may not have sex, and yiu may absolutely not get out cameras or cell phones while you're up there. They will pounce on yiu if you even look like you're about to take a photo or video. We were walking up there to see what the talk was about and immediately we saw a gent in his birthday suit at the bar proud as could be. A couple also took it all off and danced, and there was also a body painter there to design some colorful aesthetics to cover up a little and still be au-naturale. Looks like a very uninhibited place in a very uninhibited town.

    (3)
  • Michael W.

Yeah it's a great location, beers in a place like this should be ice cold and sadly they weren't and the bartender was a bit snippy on a very slow Tuesday night. I can't comment upon the pre mixed margaritas because....well I'm not mentally impaired and wouldn't drink a pre mixed margarita! The roof bar where clothing is optional should have a doorman because NOBODY wants to look at naked old people....that's just wrong!

    (2)
  • Patrick G.

Second floor is the whistle bar, been there many times .. a decent bar usually, no frills. But today I show up tonight with 10 friends, we order drinks all straight forward and shots. Bartender wad a complete jerk, rude to everyone because he had to spend time with us. Even though he had help. We wanted to hang out but quickly settled up and left because he destroyed the fun vibe we had
